2014: In order to gain greater long-term protection for those areas of the Hills that are not SSSI protected, THPG intends to apply to the Council to have these areas registered as a 'TOWN GREEN'. We are in the process of gathering evidence that the Hills have been used 'without stealth, without force and as of right' (this is the legal jargon), by the residents of Sunderland for at least twenty years. If you have any photographs or are willing to write confirming that you have used the Hills for more than twenty years, then please contact use via the CONTACT button on the HOME page

2014-15; COMMUNITY FIRST FUNDING: we received a CFF grant to enable us to do more to promote TUNSTALL HILLS. With this money we have purchased equipment for fieldwork and we intend to support teachers in working with school groups on ther Hills.

We have also designed materials which we can use when we give talks or presentations to local groups as well as leaflets which we can hand out to members of the public: all designed to increase knowledge and appreciation of Tunstall HIlls and tghe work of the THPG
